I have the stage 2 255 cams in my 2009 utlra and they are noisey just as every one says. I have adjustable push rods set 2-7/8 turns instead of the 2.5 harley calls for. thats just about .130 from preload . I had the stock pushrods with my stock heads at first and they were noisey. now I have mva heads and 10.5:1 pistons with the adjustables and they are a bit quieter but I miss the quiet motor under my legs. heres my question I see se lifters 18572-07 and wonder if these are different than my stock lifters, bigger spring under plunger maybe? . the se 110 motors have the 255 cams I believe, why are they quieter than mine, anyone know if the se 110 has the same lifters as my motor.
I have also looked at the woods lifters on the woods site and fuelmoto 107 kit

you can chase the noise with new lifters but i would check the pushrods first to make sure they are not bent or hitting anything. new lifters may or may not solve your issue. If it sounds like a sewing machine thats all normal mine has a slight tick also once the lifters pump up, but the stock lifters on my 09 are pretty good. also has anyone checked the valve to cover clearance to ensure nothing is tapping. The new SE lifters were just installed on a buddies bike and he really cant tell the difference, i guess there better but i am not 100% sure. Good luck
Checked all that stuff. Also end play in rocker arms can cause tapping. Haven't pulled top of rockers to check end play yet. Think Harley end play spec is .020 way too high a limit.
Your valve springs are hitting the lower rocker boxes. The springs that are used in the MVA are thicker and will hit when the stock lower rocker boxes are used. They need to be ground for clearance, mine needed it. Or for $100 you can buy the pre ground ones from SE.
the 110 motors are noisy, I got mine quieter by using different cams, roller rockers and shimmed up the rockers, and used tapered adj. pushrods with TP rocker boxes, but my friends is a lot busier than mine and it annoys him but don 't think he wants to go the route I did
pretty sure i looked at clearance for springs and rocker bases when I put it together believe i ground a bit out of the rocker cover too on one of the cross braces. guess im calling the dealer on 110 lifters and mine and the se ones to see if the part numbers are the same.

guess when i have some time ill pull off rockers and check the spring clearance been driving it a year -- doubt its the tapping i hear but i can also get a dial indicator and check the side clearance of the rocker arms while im at it, sounded the same when i had the stockrods and stockheads on bike with the 255 cams
