I am going to upgrade the rear of the bike and am not sure which way I want to go.. I dont have 1400 for Ohlins. My budget is 700.00 max and I am not interested in building my own from car parts..
I use the Arnott system. Has been on my daily ride that lives outside for 3 years now, only problem I ever had was a relay that went bad. Arnott gave great customer service, free replacement with free shipping.

Thats the way I am leaning.. I doubt anyone here has had both. That'd be asking a bit much. lol.. But if I dont get a bad review on the Arnott/Bilstein combo it's likely the way I'll go..
I've had the Arnott Bilstein system for about 5 trouble free years however, it is a firmer ride than stock. Ride if fine 2-up & loaded for vacation but, solo is pretty harsh for my old fat ***! Wish I would have spent the extra $$ for the adjustable system.

Ah, see that sucks to hear.. I need a bit more of a plush ride cause of my back. I like riding. And the stock set up is just old.. I bought a Hammock for the longer rides. Now I want to smooth it out more.. I know I have more mile than most and not as much as others but 27k on the 08 isnt to shabby. And now that I dont work anymore I see it going up.. And I know I am keeping it until at least 50k so it's worth the upgrade..
You can get Ohlins for less than 700! Give Howard at Motorcycle Metal a call. He is a sponsor and he will give you a discount when you tell him you are a member. I went with his 3-3 and they are incredible!! I too have a bad back and these shocks make riding a pleasure again!!!
Unless you're looking at the Ohlins #6 you can get into a really good set of Ohlins for less than $700 bucks. Call Howard at www.motorcyclemetal.com. They are a Forum sponsor and you will get a discount.
