Does anyone have any experience with the Leather bra for the front of a Electra/Street Glide fairing? Can you post some pictures and how good it works?
seems like as long as you have a clean, waxed fairing and the fairing bra has some sort of soft backing... should be no problem. I have been looking around for my SG. The roads I ride are tearing up the fairing .
I bought one for my SG but returned it. Couldnt get to fit right. You will also need to purchase the chrome windshield strip to hold thr bra on the top. Another $50.
I thought about it...decided against it, because the dust getting in behind it would act like sandpaper, regardless of padding. I just keep the fairing waxed up real good. )Seen one on a ultra at the dealer the other day...looked good.)
my 2c
The 03 Ultra we bought in 2010 had a leather bra on it. I thought it looked dumb and like we were trying to hide something so convinced DH to take it off. Bike looked so much better. Think the bra is somewhere in a cabinet in the garage.
I also tried it on my sg. Took forever to get it on. Once it was on it looked like crap. It didn't conform to the curves of the fairing and was obvious it didn't fit very well. Promptly removed it and gave it away.
i had one on my Goldwing - I liked the look of it but it's just a matter of personal taste - It never hurt the paint on the wing - I might buy one for the Ultra? - I think the contrast would look good on my bike - tom
I currently have one on my 2012 Limited (HD brand with req chrome strip) and have used them before on Ultra Classics. I personally enjoy the look and I feel that the bra protects the fairing from rocks chips and other debris.
Make sure the fairing is clean before installing it and you should not have any issues with the bra rubbing the paint like they can do on autos.
I don't like the fairing bras and how they look. For what its worth, I have 65,000 miles on my 07 and the paint is holding up great. I might one tiny chip on it. I get more rock damage on the lowers and saddlebags. We love to ride the back roads around Utah, and we get some pretty good hits on the fiberglass parts. But not the fairing. Just don't follow the aggregate trucks too close.
