Okay, I feel stupid asking, but I got a set of the shortie antennas as a Christmas gift. The package has me confused[>:]. It says to put the FM antenna on the left. Well, the stock antenna has the load coil on the left side and I always thought that one was the CB. Since I bought this bike (99 Ultra) used and have never used the CB, I don't know which arrangement is correct.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

The antenna set is the pair from Reno.

 

The left side IS the CB. If you're thinking you're going to get as good of reception outta those shorties as you will the OEM, don't hold your breath. Had some, installed 'em, ran around the block and tossed 'em.

i got the J&M ones from eglidegoodies.com, and they work great for my purposes. Radio reception was great and the CB reception wasn't bad. YMMV

 

You'll have to look at the wiring. My antennas were backwards of everyone I had seen so I thought they were switched but the wires were right.

 

My CB antenna is on the right.....'06 Ultra......look inside for a large round coil looking thing.....that will be the CB side

 

Ditto on my '07 Ultra, just went out and checked as the liner was binding on the cover when i put the tour-pac LED's on.

 

2014 Ultra: Does anyone know if a CB antenna will work on the right side for radio reception? Thanks!
