Default Bagger Apes Moving

Had Cyclesmith 13" Bagger Apes installed on my FLHX this spring. They started to move after hitting bumps. Went back to dealership the mechanic tightened then a little more then the suggested PSI. Started to move again yesterday. He said they had pretty knurling on them. That it was the nature of apes.

Thoughts...suggestions.

Thanks for the help

This may not be the correct answer, but in my opinion any handlebars that are not rubber mounted/isolated should not move at all. I would be concerned about any unintended movement of my main steering control.

Don't have apes on the SG yet but had them on my FatBoy and was told to use the polyurethane bushing. They are much stiffer, the original rubber ones are just too week for non-traditional heights. My apes never once moved.

The mechanic is wrong. Use poly bushings and then loctite and torque the **** out of it and they will not move.

I had this problem wtih 12" apes on my night train. I did poly bushings when i put them on, the problem was they kept rotating in the clamps. I tightened them as much as i could without breaking the bolts and they still moved. I read online to take some emery cloth and slide it in between the bars and clamps. I did this and they havent moved since.

If the bars are rotating in the clamp, look into one of these,

I had issues with my 18" apes rotating on my '06 Road King. After the 2nd time of taking everything apart to re-adjust and tighten I did some searching online. Wound up wrapping emory cloth on the handlebars, rough side out, and glueing emory cloth on the insides of the risers and clamp, rough side out. Then torqued it all down. That was probably over 1000 miles ago and they've not budged since.
