Front Tire Removal
anything special I need to know? I have a Harbor Frieght lift...I'm putting on a front fender rail, and it looks easier to install if tire is out of the way. Just take it off just like a bicycle tire?

Good idea to strap the front of the frame to the lift so it will not tilt back.Also a block under the bottom of the rear wheel will help.
Keep track of where axle spacers go.

I use a scissor jack under the rear. As stated you need to stabilize the bike because it will get quite out of balance once the wheel is pulled. Also loosen the axle nut before raising the bike.

how did you "unbend" the tabs around each bolt?

Also get some blue painters tape use on back edge of fender so u dont chip paint removing calipers and use string to tie back and hold the calibers dont let the hang by the brake lines little anti sieze on axle wont hurt

I didn't find that the bike went off balance by removing the front (or back for that matter) wheel when on my HF lift. It's wide enough that it supports the bike either way. Oddly enough I removed my front tire just to remove the front rail. I just removed the left caliper to allow the tire to roll out. btw. Make sure to use blue Loktite (242) and torque to spec. Observe spacer location before removing.

Just did this. Did not remove the wheel. Used long screw driver and hammer to bend back the tabs by reaching through the wheel. Used blue locktight when re-installing. Front mount was a pain, but did it with a wrench.
