Has anyone heard anything(good or bad)orcurrently using the brake caliper set upfrom Prefromance Machine. I was thinking of changing mine out with there new 6 pistion caliper set upany thoughts!!!!!
I had a set of PM calipers on my last bike. 4 piston calipers though. They worked great and were awesome!!!! I have heard some people complain about leaks from time to time but that just was not the case.
I have pm calipers front and rear on my fatboy. They work flawlessly. I bought the bike used with them already on, so I don't have much of a frame of reference, but they work great...The only problem I had was getting the guys at the dealership to figure out which pads I needed. LOL.
Look into the 6 piston calipers. I put one on my V-rod and one on my SG. I took a rotor and caliper off of both front ends to show the wheels better and with the 6 piston calipers the brake power is great.
D, is that comparison that they are the same.... one 6 piston is the same as two 4 pistons? If so, that isn't a bad trade off. I would love to go to single side to show off the wheel.
And again, I see another part of your bike that is awesome... I'm you biggest fan!
Something to consider when changing calipers. going from a 4 piston to the six would make you think you are going to have better stopping power, however that is a bad assumption unless your master cylinder can supply the needed out put to really get the performance of the added pistons. Something to think about when doing mods.
According to PM when using any of their calipers in a solo situation a 9/16 bore master cyl. is recommended. If a duel application is needed then use the 11/16, which I think is standard on all late model touring bikes. Their thoughts are that though a 9/16 would have more line pressure it's possible that it would not move enough fluid to operate the pistons. I chose to keep the 11/16 bore master cyl. with no regrets.
