Default Poor puppy

Well not really a puppy. More like an 80 pounder. I just tagged a black lab. It wandered right out of a yard and darted in front of me. Pulled over to calm down and inspect the damage. Lowers, highway pegs, front fender and lights all trashed. Went back to find the owner who refused to talk to me. His kids sat there flipping me the bird. I was there to apologize and offer them a puppy but now, screw it. I called the cops, had them write up an incident report and his homeowners can fix my bike and pay for a loner. I just feel bad for the dog.

Just glad you didn't go down!!!!! Yeah, if it was their dog and let it out, they should have to take care of the damage it does.
Luckily the only big dog I've hit, I was on a CR 250 dirt bike. Hit a little yapper once when I was a teenager on a Yamaha Exciter 250 I had. Little bastard chased me again a week later.

I have to ask, you were going 70? If you were around a neighborhood that would have to be well over the posted speed limit and could be an arguement to not pay damages.

what? why reward bad behavior. i am an animal lover, but just because i love an animal doesn't mean i have to share it with the rest of the world. it was their job to protect it, and they failed.

good job on the incident report. yeah, let them pay. maybe they won't be so quick to let their animals run loose if it hurts them in their pocket.

really glad you kept it together and didn't go down.

Sorry to hear. I have two labs and I would die if one got hit. Therefore I am paranoid about letting them get close to a street, even in front of the house on a 25MPH street.

Its the owners responsibility to control the dog and teach it to stay away from streets. Dogs don't know unless they are trained. That owner cost a life and nearly a second one - you. They don't need another dog! Don't feel sorry for them.

PS Glad its only bike damage...
