Default Axel size

What year did the touring bikes go to 1" axels? I'm looking at some RK wheels from a 1997 but the seller doesn't indicate what size axels the wheels have. Thanks.

Ibelieve 2003 was the first year for the larger axle As I think back I think that was why I didnt look at anything older

If memory serves (too lazy to really research)...
'99 &earlier = 3/4" axles
'00 & '01 = 1" axle in front, 3/4" axle in rear
'02 & later = 1" axles
Of the above, '01 is the only onethat I'mabsolutely sure of since rear bearings were swappedso the later Profile laced wheels would fit my RK.
If1" bearings can be fitted to the wheels from the'99?????

bdjhog, dont let the axle size deter you.my 06 ultra has 1in axles.i bought a wheel that was 3/4in and machined out the center to accept the 1 in sleeve.the outside diameter of the 3/4,and the 1in bearings are the same,so machine out the center, replace the bearings with 1in and enjoy.

Thanks for the replies guys. Hawg50, that sounds like a plan but I don't have access to anything to machine out the centers. Oh well, I'll just keep searching!! Thanks again.
