Wheel Cleaning
I use Triple Action Shout - liquid spray bottle in the laundry detergent section. It does not contain any Teflon so it won't mess up your braking system. Hose the tires and rims down with the mist setting on the hose, spray with TAS, let set, hose and repeat. Wipe rimms dry when done.

JSwan, go to Walmart and get some Meguiar's All purpose wheel cleaner. You will see chrome and aluminum cleaner from Meguiar's as well. Get the ALL PURPOSE one.
Forget waxing your bike with Pledge and leave the Shout to get the stains out of your shorts. You have a MOTORCYCLE not Furniture or Clothing.

I used to be a professional detailer. You are correct. You still have to scrub each spoke. I mentioned the ALL PURPOSE cleaner because the wheels on my Limited are painted AND chrome. The chrome wheel cleaner will be too strong for the painted portion of the wheel, not to mention it will etch any raw aluminum. That being said the Aluminum cleaner isn't strong enough for the job.
I have the Limited wheels on my Classic.I've had good results with the HD Tire and Wheel cleaner. When I wash the bike I do the wheels last, using the wheel cleaner and a soapy sponge.I dry them off slightly with a chamois and then detail with a Micro fibre towel. They have 36k miles and look like new,no brake dust issues or flaking chrome.
The best wheel cleaner that I've ever used is P21S Gel.

I learned about it when I had a professional detailer do a paint restoration and full detail on my 1996 Impala SS 2 a couple of years ago and I have used it ever since. This car gets autocross, road course, and drag strip duty and has a Wilwood "big brake kit". Heavy brake dust has always been a pain to clean without scratching the high-polished Forgeline aluminum wheels... until I learned about the P21 S gel. I've not used this on the bike yet, but it is safe for all finishes and should do very well. I would not hesitate to use it on my RK. Just spray the wheel, let it sit a few minutes, agitate it with a good, soft detail brush, and rinse it off.
BTW, these are the detail brushes that I use. They have never made a scratch on barepolished aluminum.
