Got back yesterday from a 3 week ride from Pa to Alaska down the west side of BC to Seattle and back across the states. 10500 miles round trip. Met a lot of interesting people riding to Alaska. Two 09 Ultra Classics and no problems with the bikes. Rode in rain, dust, mud and heat. Saw all kind of wildlife and had a great time. Alaska highway is not a bad road. If you want the ride of a lifetime ride to Alaska.
The wife wants to do it. I would like to ride Alaska but I would want to just rent a bike there. We are hoping to ride to San Fransico or to the New England states.

I know what you mean! I live in Fairbanks, and aside from the short riding season, it's an amazing experience during the endless daylight of summer!
I've also done the ferry ride from Bellingham, WA to Haynes, AK. Lots of sea life to see. Rode back down the Alcan. It's a memorable trip. I'd like to do it again someday.
