Default Let's See Your Flashy Paint Jobs

I've, looked high and low and really haven't found any threads that really deal with Flashy Paint Jobs, such Kandy's, Metal Flake, 2 tone, 3 tone, mural etc.... I'm currently working on a 99 Electra Glide and would like to see what other have done to their Glides

Here is a pic of my Street Bob, Pics of the Glide coming later

I don't have a cool paint job but the one I inquired about was $3500. It was a show quality job though and quite detailed. That's a lot of jake. I'm wondering what the return on investment is when you sell. Probably nothing....

Wow, for a bike? I want to get my 99 EG standard painted, nothing crazy, maybe 2 tone metalic, you would think it would cost less to paint a bike then a car..... I mean if take the bags, faring, tank and fenders off how much ball park are we talking? How much was your Street Bob paint job? I like the copper color, what is it called?

The standard "factory" quality paint job was $1100. Probably not too much detail but 1/3 the price. My estimate was modelled after this paint job (similar but not exactly)

They couldn't do a "factory" finish because of the detail involved. I should mention this was for my RKC so the estimate included the tank, side covers, front and rear fender......NO BAGS! They did say it would have at least 6 coats of clear and be wet sanded and buffed to perfection. I would expect nothing less for that price.

It is a slick paint job though and I'm pondering the possibility of doing it. I've never seen a "show" quality paint job in person. Do they look as good as they say they do?

I think she's kinda flashy, even if she is pretty much stock (plus exhaust). First pic is my first look at her on pickup day May 11th. It was a magical moment

Broke 7k miles last week.

Paint Jobs on Motorcycles are pretty pricey which is why I followed in my fathers footsteps and began painting myself. I've been at it a year and a half now, A majority of people who want there bike painted want unique, trendy, flashy paint jobs which require a keen eye, steady hand and detail orientated person and not to mention the time for dis assembly/reassembly wet sanding, buffing, Materials, etc.... its a lot of work hence why it sometimes costs more then to paint a car.

Here some of the work i have done: www.photobucket.com/liquidkustomz

I Painted the street Bob myself. if i would have charged someone else to do this it would have been around $1800- $2000 here is the layout for this paint job so you can see what it took to finish

Sanded factory paint off
2k primed all the parts
2 Coats of PPG metallic Silver
1 1/2 Qts of DBC500 (inner coat clear) w/ Roth .008 Silver metal flake
4 Coats PPG Vibrance II Candy Sun Glow Orange
2 Coats of High Solids Clear and then cured 2days
Wet sanded and taped off for Metallic silver line
Taped over sliver line to and sprayed the black
1 light coat of high solids clear follwed by 2 wet coats
Clear was left to cure for 2 days then wet sanded and buffed to a high gloss finish

Bull,

I have been of the opinion that custom paint is money thrown away- and highly individualized paint jobs are a decrease in value ( like the mural of the wolf howling at the full moon while the Indian sheds a single tear...and the viking etc. )

Your work on the street bob looks great from here. nice lines which complement the bike- looks, really, really nice.

maybe I'm changing my mind.

Mike
