Default Bat wing

I am thinking about buying a detachable batwing for my bike. I have been putting a lot of miles on and really want tunes, and I don't care for the handlebar mounted speakers. I also like the look of the batwing. Reading up on it though, it says some modifications are needed. Something about the trim on the nacelle needs to be taken off. Also something about the controls being moved. I want a detachable so I can have the best of both worlds, but if I have to modify the bike it won't go back the other way anyway. Anyone have a detachable, what do you think about them?

What bike do you have? A buddy put a Hoppe on his RKC with no modifications.

99 FLHR, the site said something about remoiving the chrome trim on the top of the nacelle, but I can't see how that would be in the way. A buddy of mine has an 07 RK and he didn't do anything to put his on. I just wasn't sure.

A friend of mine bought one for his '02 RKC. No mods needed except for running power to the radio.

I bought a Kuryakyn one for my Heritage from a guy on here that had it mounted on a RK & he didn't need to do anything to his bike to make it fit.. The biggest issue with the Kuryakyn ones is that it's not considered a "detachable" one but you can remove it in about 20 minutes. But mine will never come off, like having the tunes way too much...
