Mike I like the steel bearing thing I used to keep half a dozen marbles in one of my windshield bag and only used them once. When I was still living in Reno I was coming home one day on I80 no one in front of my and all of a sudden I have this BITCH in a beat to **** Caddie on my *** she won't go around and stays on my butt, I signal her around and she flips me off so I toss a handfull of the marbles straight in the air and see her almost sliding to a stop, I smile and haul ***.

When they get on my *** I hold throttle to maintain my speed and pump the foot brake about 10 times. I have the BrightAssLight and 10 pumps make a continious strobe and they dont know if I'm the Police or not and quickly get off my ***.

Our traffic here in the DC area sucks. Too many cars, too few roads. But there are also LOTS of motorcycles here and the cagers seem used to them and, for the most part, deal with them respectfully. I have seen a few kids on sportbikes (the FF helmet with shorts and sneakers types) tailgated though and it pisses me off. I think cagers like that are like most kinds of bullies. They look to prey on the weak. I always try to think about how to intervene, but haven't quite figured out how to do that effectively at highway speeds.

But maybe it's because they can see I am a big guy but I almost never have aggressive drivers F with me. I've had cagers start to tailgate and it's either the head turn and glare I give them or my very bright H-D LED tail/brake lights, but they always back off. If someone looks like they won't put up with that ****, they usually don't keep it up.

But I call BS on the ball bearing stories. I think its urban legend like 99% of the people who claim to have kicked the side of a car that was merging into them. But, if you think it sounds like a good idea, throwing a steel ball at 55-70 mph would probably be at least assault with a deadly weapon and maybe attempted murder. (In another thread, someone claimed a friend carried 2 inch ball bearings. If those even exist, they'd be bigger than a golf ball!!) It sure as hell would not qualify as self defense in any state in the union. If it went through a winshield and killed someone, you could be charged with first degree murder since you brought the "weapon" with you with the intent of using it in this way.

Best advice if you want to live to be an old fart like me--SURVIVE. If an aggressive driver won't get off your *** after you glare and flash the brake lights, move over and let them by, even if it means you have to exit or pull onto the shoulder. Better to live to ride another day.

You must be new in Boston. Brandishing a weapon is a felony.

Anger leads to poor and regretful decisions.

I know it is hard sometimes but best just to pull over, wait 3 minutes and move on.

Easy to say at 50 yrs old I know!

Really?? That might work in Mexico, but not in the U.S. Where do people think bullets go when shot into the air? Space?? All it will do is come right back down, and possibly kill someone other than the idiot that caused you to do such a thing to begin with. Then you've really got problems.

not gonna flash credentials on the subject to play a holier than thow stance as a sme...interwebs has enough of them floating around...lol

just saying, you're not brandishing if the winds just happen to lift the shirt for ya, usually they tend to ease off and go around or simply get away from ya...never said anything about what constitutes authorized use, that wasn't the point.
