I was happily riding to work this morning on nice and dry 75F weather on interstate 5, then all of a sudden, the check engine light came on…I started losing speed…I twisted the throttle and no response at all.

I quickly pulled over to the side, turned off the engine from the “run” switch, then restarted the engine, check engine light stayed lit, and again no throttle response, and I noticed the idle RPMs at about 1500.

I shut the engine a second time from the “run” switch, waited about two to three minutes, then restarted the engine, and the throttle response came back, check engine light was off, and my normal idle RPM is now back to normal of about 950 to 1000 RPM. Continued to ride to work for 20 miles no issues.


I just got back from riding to Sturgis this year, about 3000+ miles with no issues. I am completely puzzled? Has anyone experienced this?
Bike is 2009 Ultra with PC V, V&H monster ovals, and Arlen Ness Big Sucker Stage I.

Check the connections on the TBW at the trottle behind the A/C....mine was loose, disconnected it , cleaned the connections and put dielectric grease on it....still works

 

You have just experienced LIMP mode, the connectors to your air filter need to be changed to the larger pin size & reset the DTC code.
