Engine idled high
Today I was riding and it was wicked hot out. I rode up to Kent CT, no issues. One the way home, it felt like the engne was idling high; if I rolled of the throttle it did not drop rpms like it normally does. rode it most of the way home without needing to stop. When I finally did stop for a light, it was idling high but then after a few seconds at the light with the clutch in, it quieted back down to normal and was then normal the rest of the way home.
What's up with that?

My guess/theory is like some of us have experienced our engine idling slow and just shutting down at lights because of dirt in the throttle body. The ecm accidentally thinks it's idling high and the engine just shuts down because it wasn't idling high in the first place. ...follow?.... in your case the idle thought it was low.....maybe... the usual cure is to stop the engine turn off the ign.switch and the ecm resets itself. If yours idled high a bit and came back to normal after a few,I wouldn't worry until it started happening more often. Doesn't sound serious to me. My .02 $
