I agree with you, that's why I left my 2010 SG engine basically stock (except for Stage 1). With that said, I built my 2012 SG into a rocket ship.

I hear that Jim's to deal with is kinda a pain in the ****
Strongly Agree, I went with custom built S&S 124", wrench and I discussed what I was looking for and wanted. I not only got S&S warranty but also labor warranty. I am happy with bike. Planning on a iron butt ride next year as well as a few 4-6 hundreds for training purposes.

well it's a race motor so I am sure that is yet to be determined. I am not saying these motors won't last....but I am saying be prepared to have some issues with high mileage on a motor that is not intended for touring. Building a motor with components that build in reliability would be the best case scenario. I would love to slap a 5k 120r motor in my bike. but having to explain to my wife that I got to rebuild it would not be a fun experience.

Trust me when my fiance saw the numbers for the 124", I immeadiately made a ring upgrade, to turn that frown back into a smile. Best part is she loves to ride with me as much or more than I like riding....so all worth it!
