Default Jims 131 TC Engine

I have seen quite a few threads on here about the 120r, just wondering if anyone has, or is thinking of the Jims 131. Just noticed it in the 2013 SE Racing Parts catalogue. This looks like it kicks ****. Any opinions out there bout it? Both are marked for race applications only, but we all know better than that.

A built S&S 124" builds same horsepower and if your builder is good he will stand behind is work.

I hear that Jim's to deal with is kinda a pain in the ****

120r is less then 5k if you order from a dealer that gives discounts, where Jim's complete motors along with S&S complete motors are 8k to 11k depending on what you want in them.

A good reason. I have not priced it yet. Still could be a fun engine.

I think that engine was in last years catalog also. Ill probably get corrected but I also recall seeing these engines specifically being pretty high maintenance.

yes you get into the longer strokes with big displacement and piston skirts get really short. having to re ring the motor every 10k is pretty common on some of those style motors

Why would anybody want a touring motor that has to be torn down every 10,000 miles to be re-ringed? I'm sure it goes fast and is a hoot to drive, but I would have to tear it down once a year. That's not what I want out of a touring rig.
