Battery Question
Is anyone using the DEKA ETX30L BATTERY AGM battery?
I can get one online shipped to the house (free shipping) in Canada for $139.50 cad.
Is there a better battery for an 08 FLHX?

Don't know what that comes out to in US dollars but that is as cheap as I have heard if the numbers are close. I run the Odyssey but it is quite a bit more expensive.
BTW, if your riding season is over be sure to keep it on a battery tender.

DEKA does make the OEM and I run them in my shovelhead, not this particular one, of course. I have no issues with them at all. The ETX30L is on sale at www.batterymart.com for $99.99 US with free shipping.
That's the battery I'm gonna get in 2-3 years, if my new HD battery lasts that long. The original battery lasted almost 4 years so I'm not gonna wait for this one to crap out on me, hopefully.
...and if you sign up for the batterymart emails you get another 10% off if I remember correctly.

I got the ETX30 from batterymart 15 months ago. Recently I have been having trouble getting through the first compression stroke when starting, voltage drops to 7.6 at that point. Just ordered another from baterymart and hope the current one turns out to be one of the few that didn't go for 4 or 5 years. If the next one tires out this fast, I'll be looking at other options. All connections verified clean and tight on both ends just in case you are wondering and always on a maintainer between rides. Hopefully just bad luck on this particular battery.
I have had many HD Deka batteries (really East Penn Manufacturing Company, Inc.) throughout the years. The Deka you get directly from them: 2800 SW 4th Ave, Unit 20, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315 http://www.americanbattery-deka.com (305) 688-6623 has different literature and HD claims "their" batteries to be manufactured to their (HD) specifications.
I do not know what is the truth but I have had problems with both and both give short pro-rated warranties. I find that there is no steel nut behind the terminals to properly tighten up the cables without fear of stripping out the lead threads.
Being I live here in FL, I get these battery's under the aforementioned price. I pay around $77 for a Softail/FXR battery. I am not sure what the baggers goes for.
My experience with all Deka batteries have been not good. I know some get 7 years out of the battery, so I heard. I never have. It always seams to be something wrong within 6mo to one year. I also have them in 2 cars. Always something. I am going to look for a new battery either on line as they have a light weight but more expensive battery. I can not recommend Deka
