First Cold Pressed implies an extra virgin oil. It is the top of the line Extra Virgin Oil, and it is a non synthetic. However, this oil will begin to smoke at lower temperatures than a standard olive oil.

To help him get some viscsity retetion on the EXTRA virgin oil
He'll need to cold press 10 anchovies and extract that oil.
The smell will have cats chasing him around the streets.

Berndog, if you can't afford the higher priced synthetic oil you can go back to the regular dino oil and all should be fine as long as you use the weight specified for your bike. On the other hand, several people on this forum swear by Mobil 1 and others for other synthetics. After the break in of my bike I went with Syn3, which is HD's Screaming Eagle brand of syn oil. It made my bike run slightly cooler but a bit noisier. Then I went with Amsoil on the third change and it not only ran cooler (cooler means less friction) than the Syn3 did but ran quieter too and shifts easier. Been using Amsoil ever since. It is a bit more expensive but, to me, worth it. Have never run Mobil 1 because I am happy with what I use. It is your call as to what you want to do. It won't hurt to shift around until you find one you like and are willing to pay the price for.

I would stay with what the bike has had in it, it aparently likes it, a buck here or there isnt really a good excuse to skimp on oil just to save a buck. Lots of good oil out there, i switched from syn oil to dyno, i now run Rotella 15-40 in the winter and 20-50 in the summer and both my bike and pickup, never any problems, this debate will still be going long after im dead and gone, good luck, main thing ride safe and have so friggin fun.

I use rotella in all my shared sump bikes. Great oil, easy to find and it's cheap. I use it in the primary of my Harley too.
There shouldn't be any issue going one grade thinner or thicker in a bike with a good oil pump. Running a thinner oil will let the engine rev up quicker and get to temp faster,as well as a slight bump up in fuel economy due to less drag on the oil pump.
So the guys running a diesel oil have nothing to worry about.
