One reason for me. Wireless connection for Pandora and similar from phone to deck. No wires, no thumb drives, no CD's...etc.
I have simplified further now and ditched the handlebar mount. I start Pandora or whatever on my phone as I walk to my bike and just keep the phone in my vest pocket.
My alpine isn't marine and had it accidentally rained on when I forgot to put the cover on. Ironically, I had a Sony marine that quit work after being in the rain. You will still need a cover for the marine radio if it rains.
