SE's and Rineharts are not in the same league
Most (all?) slipons you purchase are going to be less restrictive than stock. You need back pressure of performance will suffer. Those who disagree are really saying it wasn't enough for them to notice. The lean stock mixture runs hotter and could blue the pipes you just spent all that money on and the manufacturer ain't gonna warranty it.
Pipes, stage 1/computer, and AC need to be done at the same time. Can't do it all then wait. Oh, and you'll have to get rid of that cat too.
For the best value & terrific quality....go with Rush or Jackpots. I went with Rush 3.5" with the 2.25" baffles. (no need for remap if you don't go bigger than 2.25" on the baffles) You can get either at around $350. I get a lot of compliments of the sound. In my signature picture, you see SE pipes, which I liked how they looked, hated the way they sounded. Go hang out at a dealer or rally and listen to others.
I agree with Dew Me. First you have to get rid of the cat in the stock header pipe. Then decide what slip ons you want. I also went with the Rush Big Louie's. Once you get rid of the cat there is a whole lot more air flow coming out of the exhaust and it will actually sound like a Harley. I got rid of the ugly football air cleaner and went with a Performance Machine Super Gas high flow air cleaner. Then I took it my dealer and purchased a tuner and had them put it on the dyno. I did'nt think I would notice a difference but my street glide really feels like a 103 now. More power and great sound. It cost some bucks but it is done right and I know the dealer will stand behind the work. After paying $21,000.00 for a new bike, I'm not going to mess around with aftermarket tuners. I'm 100% satisfied and thats all that matters. Good luck and "I just want to ride man"!!!
Not obnoxiously loud at idle or cruising, but wake up when you twist throttle. Granted I did
gut my stock cat, but that alone with stock pipes made it slightly more audible too...
