Default Reving Issues

Bike hits red line way too fast in every gear, and thats due to idle rev being like 3k. On the top end it still pulls good, but sounds like it struggling. If I'm deceling to come to a stop, pull the clutch revs drop to 3k and no lower...if I cut the bike off and back on it goes back to normal 1k-1,100.

Any Ideas?? I was thinking it may be the PCIII since a power cycle fixes the issue temprarily. It just started doing this, no changes to the bike have been made, it has done it in <50 dg and >50 dg.

Yeah somethings not right with your PC map and I would look at that. I have all kinds of fun with my throttle and never hit the rev limiter even once.

PCIII is easy enough to disconnect. Try it and see if idle returns to normal. First thing I'd check.

Check the tuner first..then check the idle controller.when mine gets dirty it will idle fast but not that high..

You can reset the idle RPMs on the TBW bikes by putting the kill switch to on, turning the ignition to on for 5 seconds, then turning it off for 5 seconds. Repeat this ignition cycle 4 times and it will reset your idle. If you shut the bike off real quick and the revs are high the computer remembers this and keeps a high idle RPM. Now , this only works with TBW bikes so if you dont have that then idk but like others have said check your PCIII as well.

Yup...and also, when you're starting it, if it is a TBW, be sure you're not turning the throttle at all when you hit the start button, if you do, the bike thinks that position is idle and will idle at that position until you follow instructions above to bring it back down to normal.

Interested to see what the issue is...sounds like PCM.

07, no TBW. Yeah my first thought was PC, I'll have to try it out without it.

mine was doing that too,not pc related for me.when it got bad enough it finally threw a code(loss of idol control) duh, finally tracked it to ... heat melted loctate on tps adjuster screw and it backed out,fps screw is set by reading voltage.there is a very long thread in here dedicated to 07 IDOL ISSUES.tps sensor, iac, crank position sensor are the most likely causes.dould even be speed sensor.

Are you waiting 3-5 seconds after starting engine before moving the bike? The fi needs time to determine normal idle. If you are starting the bike and immediately blasting off it will never find idle.
