Andrews has a wide range of instruction sheets on their website. Do any of them answer your queries?

The instructions Andrews gives are for cams only.

I understand very little of the mechanics of this, but do you not have different cam chain tensioners?

He does but said he is putting in conversion cams, that means he is putting a different cam plate in like the one in the video.

The conversion AFAIK is from the original spring-loaded chain tensioners, to oil pressure or hydraulic tensioners. The spring type used on TC88s wear badly and can cause serious damage if they fail, the hydraulic variety were introduced on the TC96 and can be retro-fitted to TC88s. It's a common upgrade, as the later spec has a higher pressure oil pump, as a bonus.

Hope that helps!
