I dont have a batwing bike but last fall I bought a windshield and soft lowers (elephant ears) for my RK. I noticed some buffeting with that combo, now I can't stand the look of those fork baffles but a friend of mine sold me a set for cheap and guess what ZERO BUFFETING! If they fit when I get an aftermarket fairing they are staying on, IMO best $20 I've spent on the bike.

The small baffle that goes between the forks worked for me. Mine is black so it isn't really noticeable, I believe the part number was 58520-79 or 58520-79A
Here is the chrome version.

Here is my solution.
If I was making them over I would try them 4-6" longer (equal to bottom of cowbells) then shorten them until they stopped blocking as much wind. They help a LOT at this size but the idea of cutting up 3-6 more sets to experiment seemed crazy. At this size you have to know they are there to even see them.

It's all trial and error but I can't ride without the lower batwing deflectors (on the side of the fairing).

I added Hawg wings and an Ultra recurve windshield from LRS and now have a nice clean pocket of air to ride in.

Late fall I add the JES fork deflectors, the soft lowers, fork baffle and fairing wings. Photo is without fairing wings, but you get the idea. Everything comes off during warm weather.

This really knocks down the airflow.

Check out the Desert Dawgs soft lowers. Easy on/off (slip on over the crash bar) and they block most of the wind coming up the body and under the helmet. (They are also great for rain.) USA made! http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/harl...n-rain-guards/

Watch the temperatures with the "Elephant Ears" ... poor air circulation ... You could cook the motor in the right circumstances!

For me, the the fairing mounted wing deflectors in combination with the lowers being in the closed position really makes a difference. Whether I have the big ol' 16" full on windshield or the 7" LRS Ultra, the wind coming up from front and center is greatly reduced by those 2 things mentioned.
