Default Being Short....

I am about 5'7" and hate barely touching the ground on my Street Glide. I have been on the forum and searching everyday for solutions and fixes to my problem. Starting with a lowered seat, but usually ends up moving rider towards the tank, which i have tried and hate. Then just a cheap lowing mount kit that moves the mount down 1" or so. Then read all the posts about how negatively it affects the ride. Then today i found Legend Air Ride. Which will allow me to lower the bike to flat foot it and still have the comfort and awsome ride. Then i start researching Legend and find that many people have issues. Anyone have a good review of them? Or maybe a better or more reliable kit? I just need my bike a little lower but still have the ride we all love.

Have you thought about MCC?

Talk w/ Allan, he can reshape your seat and cut down the nose of your seat to help put your inseam closer to the bike. Might as well see about the double memory foam while your there. this would be the cheapest route.

You could talk to Howard (motorcycle metal) and get a custom made shock. I think the lowest you can go is 11 5/8" without screwing up wiring under the fender.

Good Luck,

YB

This may sound stupid to you but have you tried logger style boots or at least a tall heel on your boots? It may be your cheapest fix if it works for you.

You might want to try getting hold of a stock 11-13 Street Glide/Road Glide Custom seat. They are lower and more narrow than the 2010 stock seat. I'm 5'8" with barely a 28" inseam and could flatfoot just fine when I had my 2012 Street Glide in all situations. It would be a possible cheap solution.

I'm about 5'6 and know what you mean. BUT...I run Ohlins 3+3 13" shocks with a 1" lowering block from Burly. Solo, it's a stretch. But the the wife gets on the bike sits down and I can duck walk all day.

My seat has been modded by MCC and that helps.

It really is just a matter of getting used to the bike. I admit I was overwhelmed at first, but I just dealt with it. And the more I did the easier it got. I can back mine out of the garage solo in tennis shoes now. And it rides like a Cadillac whether solo or 2 up.

But....I dropped it twice in the garage before I realized a Road Zeppelin seat wasn't meant for me.

And just for conversation, I was in a local indy shop the other day looking at an old FL (not for sale:-( ). A knucklehead I believe. That thing was on the ground. Newer Harleys are miles higher than the old bikes.

Call Chuck of C & C seats. They can custom build you one.
Their normal seat sits you back 3/4-1 inch and down at least 1 inch.
I think that would work for you.

Nice lookin' ride, show us some better pics.

I'd do the Mustang seat and the boot gimmick. I remember rigid frames were really low to the ground but man they rough! Too bad you can't do something like that.

Lower your rear with blocks 1"
Lower your front springs using Progressives 1"
Go to a local upholstery shop and have them remake your seat about 1-2" lower for about $100-150.

That should easily get you flat footed with no change to the ride!!

You and I are the same size, 5'7". I put 11.5 inch Progressive 412 HD shocks on, along with Road 6 lowering blocks on the second hole. I am flat footed with a bend in the knee, and I don't bottom out two up riding. If you only ride solo go with regular springs, but either way you can have flat feet for under $250!
