Default Is this "Clunk" normal?

If i hit a large bump that or a drop off, the front forks go "clunk". Is that the fork sliders extending to the stops that makes this sound?

Thanks for any info.

It's normal. There is a piece in there that moves during compression, and then the suspension creates a vacuum when it comes off of full bump at high speeds, which in turn makes a clunk as the piece slides back in place quickly.

What year and model? There was a service bulletin a few years ago about front end "clunk" as I recall.

it's an 2001 FLHTC. With air pressure in the front shocks and if you say, drop from a bump, the pressure would push your lowers to the stop, and that's what I think is happening

My 01 Wide glide does the same thing. Had it checked out a few years ago and nothing was wrong.

You'll get some clunking type of noise at both full extension and compression. This is the fork mechanism for preventing it from getting damaged. There is a rebound spring for extension and oil lock, as I described before, for compression.
