I have a 2007 HD Police Road King. I am looking for a badlander seat. What year will work for my bike. I know of a seat off of a 2002, but not sure it will fit.

Anyone?

Rick

There are two versions available for your model year, so go to Harley's website to find out which version will fit your bike. They both fit 97-07 model years.

That is correct, All 97-07 Seats will fit. Some have the shorter snout to fit road kings and street glides that have the longer tank dash.

Thanks guys!

That makes sense, I had an Electra-Glide and there was a gap between the dash and the snout of the seat.

Great!

Default Bars

Next question. I have a 2007 Road King police with stock bars. It appears as if the previous owner may have been vertically challenged as the seat (not police), pushes me forward and the bars appear to have been pulled back, which is a very uncomfortable ride.

I plan to change seats and wondered if the bars can simply be tilted more upright. There are 2 chrome acorn nuts on top of the plastic cover over the bar mounts. Do these loosen the bars where they could be moved back forward?

If I remember correctly it is not the acorn nuts. There should be two plastic hole covers on the plate that says Road King Police. Under them are the two allen head bolts that hold the handle bars. I will check and if I am wrong let you know, or someone else on the forum will. lol.

Sure they can be tilted and you may get away with just putting pressure on them if the clamps are not too tight. But although I have a Road King and never tried it on a bike with a fairing, it may be easier to get to your clamps by pulling the inner fairing than it is to get my nacelle apart. Real PIA and knuckle buster.

The bars can indeed be moved and it is worth adjusting them to improve comfort. However this is one of those jobs where you really should have the factory service manual. It can get quite involved getting in there to do it and is well worth having the book.

Tom, You are correct, there are 2 plugged holes on the plastic cover. I did not look in there yet, but if these expose the allen bolts, it should be an easy adjustment.

Thank you!
