Default are adjustable pushrods needed?

I am switching from chain drive to gear drive w/Andres cams. I went to dealer to get my gaskets for rocker boxes and they told me i had to go with adjustable pushrods? They said they would tick and clatter? But I cant find anything on here, most what i am reading ppl are using their original oem pushrods. Anyone experience such a problem and what causes the noise? I have read both good and bad about adjustables and would like to stay with my oem's. Thanks for any help in advance

How much difference in lift are you going with on the cams? I think that would make a change necessary or not.

If you are replacing the stock Harley cams, they will have a different "base circle" than the Andrews cams, which means that the stock push rods will not be the correct length. The adjustable push rods are needed to make-up the difference in the base circles.

Adjustables aren't a problem, unless that are too large and contact the push rod tubes, causing noise or if they aren't installed and adjusted properly.

I have the Quickee-Install push rods from Fuel Moto and the went in and worked great.

From Andrews installation instructions...
http://www.andrewsproducts.com/media...2007-later.pdf

It depends on the cam you chose, and the year of your bike...
For all instruction sheets:
http://www.andrewsproducts.com/motor...ruction-sheets

This is from the 2007 and later instructions...

"All Andrews Products 21HG, 26HG, 31HG, 37HG and
50HG Twin 88 cams are made with stock size lobe
base circles so stock pushrods will be the correct
length. If you are going to use the original pushrods,
removing the fuel tank(s) and rocker boxes will be
necessary. Mark the pushrods so they can be replaced
in their original locations. (Not all stock pushrods are
the same length). 54HG, 55HG, 60HG and other high
lift cams will require adjustable pushrods."

Lift would not make any difference in pushrod length. As for the base circle being different from stock I can't say but that could be a problem. I doubt that also. There hydrolic lifters so should compensate for some variance.

Lift doesn't matter, its base circle. Apparently the base circle is the same height on the 26 so you can use them. I prefer quick install adjustables when doing any cam install personally, but if its worth your time to pull the tank and rocker boxes then you can do it.

If you arent doing the bb kit the I would cut the stock push rods and use adjustable p rods
It will save you about 6 hrs of labor to avoid removing the tank and rocker boxes.
