Default changing tires

Looking for help on changing tires myself. Went and bought the harbor freight tire changer to only find out that I need the attachment kit for my 08 ultra rear tire. I am looking for suggestions on what everyone does or has done to complete job. Some have suggested just doing the tire irons after breaking the bead. Was wondering if I should invest in a tire stand? Thanks.

I have http://compare.ebay.com/like/251235730777?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar that I bought a few years ago and it is a sweet unit. It's cheaper thru eBay than it is direct from the Mfgr. I am curious as to what attachment you need for an '08 rear tire?

Just got a new rear put on by the dealer. They had a 20% off tires ($201 for a 402 WWW) and 50% off labor ($34). $235 total, This guy's not gonna spend all day changing my own tires at that price. Only have to do it every 3-4 years any way, just keep watching for the sales.....

Sounds like your bike doesn't get rode enough. I change my tires for saving money and I just don't like anybody else fooling with my bike.
I've always just changed mine with tire irons but will be looking onto the eBay link above. Time to make it easier on myself.

I was just letting everyone know what bike I had. I realize that it doesnt matter what year bike I have. I have seen homemade ideas. I was just looking for some ideas as to what everyone has done to change their tires.

Default tire change

I decided I am changing my own tires from now on. I can't tell you about the tire machine as I have no experience with it.

I use the tire irons and it works well. I've done a couple of them now.

I just don't have room for a machine.

The main problem is breaking the bead on both sides of the old tire. I bought a set of hinges and mounted one of the hinges to the wall about a foot off the floor and attached a 2X4 to the hinge. Then I used the other hinge up the 2X4 a little ways and put a stub of a 2X4 on the other side of that hinge. Now I put the stub on the tire and pull down on the whole 2X4 and break the bead in a couple of seconds. Works very well.

i have a question for you guys that change your own tires....how hard is it to reallign everything putting it back together? about how long is the job start to finish? i hate paying installation for the tires but i can't do it myself, least not yet. you guys that do the "burns" on your tires, must have deep pockets.
