Which Touring ?
A lot more bike to sling around on all the local riding you will do. Be prepared to pay higher service costs. An chicks squeezing you a whole lot tighter with their legs when you get on it coming out of a stop light!
my 2 cents.
I prefer a Road King.
Because you can add a really cool fairing and have it on or off and still have your gauges, you can go just windshield, or nothing or fairing.
You can add a tourpack for long trips along with a fairing for extra storage and wind protection, even add lowers, or strip it down and go light with just bags, I like the convertibility of it, you have options based on weather and your mood and riding style.
Just my 2 cents though, to each his own, whatever works for you.
I think comfort wise your splitting hairs with any touring bikes, they are very similar if not the same fundamentally.

ps love my cruise and anti lock, never had them til now and I love them both!!

I just upgraded from a street bob to a road glide and love it, the frame mounted fairing to me makes it a better stable ride versus the street glide, I went to the dealer to buy a street glide but went home with the road glide both are awesome
I've owned a bunch of HDs over the years. As for touring, I bought my very first brand new Harley late in 07. It was a 08 Ultra Classic. I liked it a lot but it had too much baggage.....tour pak. I still have a 06 Road King Classic. I really like the simplicity of the RK, but if I were to buy a new touring bike today, I guess it would be the Street Glide, best of both worlds.

Some incorrect infromation has been posted.
1. SG and RG custom except for faring are the same bike.(sense 2009)
2. RGU and Ultra both have the same speaker and head set connection.
Only real difference is the saddle bag guards few trim peaces,. Again same bike different fairing.
RGU has had standard 103,ACR and ABS sense 2011 model, became standard on the rest 2012 .
As you can see it does have the speakers.

ok my 3 cents i went from a fatboy to a streetglide last year big difference loved the fatboy but really enjoying the SG that being said i work in the insurance salvage industry besides the rockets the 2 bikes we get the most are sportsters and EG why you say because sporties are a learners bike and EG are too much bike for alot of people i an 5 10 and 220 and by no means weak but a EG is too big for me and yes I've been riding for years so you need to make sure you buy what you can handle and be truthful to your self I've seen way too many very low mileage big bikes go through the auction because guys went way more than they could handle and 1 of then was a friend of mine who did the exact same thing
Have seen little older women riding EGC's and RGU's as well as RK's, some barely up to 5'6" and they do fine with them. May be the cagers get the EG's more often as they are on the slab more often, rice rockets are just hazardous to one's health. Buddy has a Hayabusa, rode with him a few times and as he would always get stupid on it I quit riding with him as did not want to pick up the parts later.
