Which Touring ?
You def have to ride the bikes and preferably over a few days; not just a quick test ride at a dealership. I will tell you a mistake I made: I wanted a Harley touring bike but I was afraid I'd miss the cruiser of my Heritage and WideGlide so I opted for the RoadKing. I missed the fairing, the stereo, the tourpak and just decided to trade for what I thought was the best handling of the Roadglide Ultra. Good luck to you and have fun deciding.
Search is over, congrats! So much for my two cents on all your potential choices...eff it, gonna do it anyway in case somebody else is on the fence out there. I'm on my 3rd E-glide, a 92', an 01 Ultra and now a 09 Ultra. My best bud had a RK and traded for a SG. Rode that RK.... you sit on one, not in one. Really missed that fairing and tunes. But as far as looks go, a RK done up all old school is just rightous! I think if you are going to buy batwing, you went the right way. The Limited, for what you get over the Ultra is well worth the extra $$ IMHO. I really like those cut contrast wheels......no more polishing aluminum! However, touring bikes are made for riding and for me, with one caveat, the RGU is the finest touring bike Harley makes......based on the effect (or lack thereof) of wind as in buffeting. Handling is another thing. Not having that wind connected to your hands via the fairing creates a much more nimble machine. A RGU handles like a bike that weighs less than what it does. I rented one on vacation and was blown away by it. If it was not for the fact that I DO NOT want to start over again making a new bike "mine" again, I would have traded my E-Ultra in on a RGU 2 years ago. The one issue I have with the RGU is the windshield. My passenger got a lot more wind than on our E-Ultra which I heard about more than enough to get the point! So a windshield change would be in order but so what.....I had to change out the stocker on the E-Ultra ( 3 times till I got it right) to, so no big deal on that. This year will be the last year for the RGU.....in its present dress.....word is it may come back in 15' with water cooled heads!! but I digress......FLHTK is an awesome machine and will serve you well I have no doubt. Now all you gotta do is get rid of those wimpy sounding stock mufflers, that freakin' blast furnace of a cat havin' header, a good air cleaner and a set of Woods 555 cams and you'll be in there! Seriously though..... well done and welcome to the fraternity of the Geezer Glide!

Go with the FLHTCU ... All the essentials are already added in and the storage is great. Heck, you could even keep the Sportster and throw it in the Tour-Pak!
