In my area, it's illegal to make a u-turn in front of a school but it happens all day long anyway. The biggest problem isn't just the illegal u-turn but that the driver usually only looks into the drivers' door mirror and never looks back over their left shoulder.
You didn't see her turn signal? LOL! She didn't see you because she was driving with her head up her butt... kinda of hard for her to see her surroundings when driving like that, but again, all too common.

glad you are the wife are ok. Based on looking at the posted photos, i would retain counsel and seek compensation for the bike repair, bike rental, all medical bills inclusive of the ambulance and any plastic surgery.

Wow! That is quite a lot of damage (including the gash) for a low speed collision to both yours and the instigators vehicles. Really glad it wasn't worse than it was.
I drove a red 80,000 lb mixer truck for a few years. I once had a woman run right into the side of it while I was not moving. When the police showed up, she claimed she didn't see me... How the F*** is that possible. I'm bright red and at least 10x your size... People I tell ya...
Dang glad your ok. But people really need to pay a bit more attention out there. She should have seen you back there if you were following her for a mile. I drive a dump truck and pull heavy equipment with our lowboy around the state and it amazes me at how many people are texting or looking at something,and not paying attention to there surroundings. Come on people it's common sence. Nothing on your phone is worth hurting someone or worse.

And, I am leaving in one week for a 1500 mile solo trip. I will avoid traffic like the bubonic plaque . . .if I can.
This is the stuff that annoys me more daily; it is scary how incredibly negligent people are!!
