Default Side covers

Does anyone have a source for the screw in metal stud(plug) that hold the side covers on? It doesn't show in the hd computer.

Default Side Covers

If you're talking about the side covers on a touring bike, the studs on the side covers pop into a rubber gromet, at least mine do. You can get them at a HD dealer.

Yep, thought I lost mine, bought from dealer and found original a couple months later detailing the bike. Forget where it got lodged so you might check your bike good.

Default 3 studs in side covers

What holds the side cover into the bikes?
There are(were) 3 plugs that screw into the side covers using a torx.
They would be permanent if they didn't vibrate out of the side cover.

The rubber grommets can start getting hard after 15 years. I know your bike is not 15 yet but I would go ahead and change them out. They are cheep cheep compared to the price of side covers. Losing one on the highway is no fun.

Default Side cover

Grommets aren't the issue.
Its the plug that goes into them that is screwed into the side cover with a torx driver
