Isn't it great to get all the lecture bullshit when you ask a simple question on this forum?

The two best units on the planet: Escort 9500i or the Valentine One. I own them both. For the bike, I would go with the Vone. It's a tad less expensive and you can get a reasonably priced remote head. I don't use either on the bike. I do use them in the cages.

Prepare to be lectured by the ex cops and laser heads!

I have a Passport Escort 8500 X50, red display, case, mount, cords and booklet
I'd take 175.00 shipped...
I've slowed down in my old age...

What Shooter said... no real reason to ride any faster than speed limit. The life you save might be yours...

I have been running a radar detector in my car since i started driving. I have been running Escort products since day one. Either the escort 9500ix, or my choice the Redline currently. The Redline, even though it does not have GPS like the 9500ix, has better range. Is it going to alert you a mile ahead of the 9500ix, no , but any little helps. The Valentine one is also a great unit but they are due for a upgrade soon to catch up to the Escort products.

Now i haven't been running one on the bike mainly because of mounting. I have not found a mounting solution that i really like yet.. Im still looking for solutions

To answer just your question, I would go with the 9500ix, (I own 4 of them, along with three ZR4's).

While Marc is right about the redline having a better range, I prefer the GPS ability of the 9500, which allows it to block out signals from door openers and others that are not officers with radar.

The x50 from Casper (above) is probably your best bet, although not as good as the 9500 it is a great radar ( I have owned two of them) and for that price it is better than the $500+, the others will cost.

That is a wide range radar signal that gives off a FM signal that a detector might pick up. Radar also has the option of instant on and off. If this is the case, once you are visible by the officer, he will turn on the radar.....again too late.
I have not had a ticket in 13 years. I speed all over. My radar has saved me countless times, yes and even from laser. I know If I am targeted on an instant on on me it wont work. My valentine is so good, if the cop turns the laser on someone else my v1 will pick it up more than 1 mile away.

My take on it is if you are willing to pony up the coin for one of the recommended units go for it. I even had a high dollar so called jammer for a while and still got tickets. My experience has been that having a marginal detector is great for letting you know you are about to be pulled over.

With the use of laser and instant on systems, aren't these more of ticket notifiers than detectors?

Laser and instant on can trap you if you are alone on the road or ahead of traffic.
I use one in my car but consider it more of a reminder.
They are useful only if you use them as a reminder.
