Default Oil Drip

I've got a 2002 RKC that just turned 17K. I had a 10K service done in May at 14K, I got the bike with 12K on it. After the service, I noticed a spot, about the size of a dime, on the floor, that never happened before. I checked, the bottom of the primary was damp just under the drain plug. I took it to the dealer, he said it was the inner primary seal/gasket. That area was dry. I figured it might be the Tranny vent tube. Not having time to deal with it then, I went home. I've checked it after every ride and it's been dry as a bone until this morning. A spot about the size of a quarter on the floor and the bottom of the primary was damp. everything inboard of that was dry. again, it was right under the drain plug. I rode it last to the HOG meeting Wed. night. Any ideas?

Try to tighten the drain plugs.

May be a bad oring on one of the drain plugs .

Whenever I change oil I replace drain plugs and orings .

I would guess that it's either that or the fact that there is no Teflon tape in the threads.. Some people will not put this on to save money.. [:@]

Sounds like the primary drain plug is leaking for sure, I use liquid teflon on my drain plugs and replace the o-rings if they look damaged any, and most of the time they are. So far I have had no leaks from any of the drain plugs.

Well, it wasn't the drain plug or any bolts. Turned out to be the shift shaft seal, on the inboard side of the transmission. All it took was $306 and a day at the dealer & no more drip.

The dealer just found the same seal leaking on my RK at the 10,000 mile inspection. Fortunately, it was covered under warranty. I had seen no evidence of a leak prior to them finding it. I hope this isn't going to keep repeating itself.
