I have many friends who own SG, just like myself. Those who have ridden mine tell me the same thing. That my bike for some reason vibrates more than theirs. The only mods I've done to date have been V&H Pro pipe exhaust, Intake and a PC5 programmer. I also notice that my rpm range varies up and down from 1,300 rpm to 900/1000 constantly. I'm used to it by now but I'm curious as to why so much excessive vibration. Only when standing still not when riding of course, riding it runs fine but when I come to a stop thats when I notice that it shakes somewhat excessively compared to others SG...
I'm taking my bike to get some engine mods done this week, doing some engine work, 110 big bore kit, cams, properly dyno and tune. I'm going to ask my INDY Harley guy what could be the problem.. Because this isn't normal, hopefully it will be corrected once all the work gets done to her... I test drove my buddies SG 110 CVO man that was a smooth running baby, but for 34k, no thanks
It could be as simple as it is not fuelling right at present, due to the change of exhaust. By all means tell your shop about it, but as he is tuning it properly after your mods it should be as smooth as can be afterwards.
I'm the hesitant owner of a new 2013 Street Glide fully decked out with the Burst collection accessories. I love the look of the bike but very, VERY disapointed in the ride. At stop lights when I hold the brakes on, the bike vibrates my fillings lose. At road speed it's great, other than he wind buffering my head like a bobble head doll unable to read the road signs...
I have put a new re-curve windshield on and a few other accessories, changed out the helmet and made riding at highway speeds more manageable but honestly for almost 30k it's a major disapointment. Next open house I am taking another street glide out for a ride to see if they are all alike!
It may be your handle bar bushings? Maybe not sure if you changed your bars or how many miles you have??? I had a vibe in the floorboards 20k ago and went with the glide pro front mount, that took care of that. I now have 42k on the bike and just had my 07 rebuilt from the crank up and the mirrors vibrate a lot at idle with no hands on them, I may try the delrin bushings. But I also dont have my final dyno done yet either.
BTW, If you keep the bike a while you will drop $35k in it easy, ask me how I know

I will ask my INDY about all this vibration stuff, he can diagnose it better than me. All I know is that it could be a minor issue that I may have overlooked or the INDY shot who install the exhaust, PC5 etc... I only have 17miles on her so I dont see her needed new bushings but you never know..
Without a doubt, you're going to get far more engine vibration when you hold the front brake on! When you look at the front wheel, a lot of the vibration goes to the front and you can see the front wheel shake. When you lock the wheel (with the front brake), the wheel is no longer shaking and that vibration is transmitted back into the bike. Engine shaking in the mounts at idle is normal (this is not a balanced engine) where on a softtail, it wouldn't be. Certainly if it's above normal (due to a missfire), you'll want to have the problem fixed to keep damage from occurring such as fuel washing the cylinder down causing premature ring and piston wear. Good luck finding your problem.
