Default Headset question

Can I cut off the speakers on my headsets and wire some earbuds on and it still work. Have some Harley helmets that are very comfortable but not user friendly to headsets.

I haven't tried it but see no reason why it wouldn't work. You'd want to get earbuds that match the impedance of the helmet speakers, if you can figure that out. Maybe it's not a big deal, but you may be able to overdrive cheap earbuds and then get lousy sound quality or blow them out altogether. Not that you'd get caught, but some states don't allow the use of earbuds while riding/driving.

Are you using half helmets or something else? I thought the H-D headsets fit all 3/4 and full-face, and you can get systems that work with half helmets too.
