i went under the rear fender and ran a short length of duct tape along the crease. This stopped mine on my road glide. Cheap and effective, you are the only one that knows its there.

A spray polish between washes keeps things looking good. Then I look at that horrendous lower taillight mud drip and feel like I been walking around with a booger hanging.
It's probably the ride to work where the auto sprinklers are watering (over watering) the center median and the road is just a little wet in a few spots.
Haven't taken it a part yet but was thinking maybe a foam tape between the seam might do the trick.
