Cool Windsheild which one?

I searched the forum for windshields for a 2010 Electra Glide and I’m still looking. I have the stock one on now which is about 4 inches above my line of sight. It is impossible to see when you’re caught in the rain. So I’ve looked at Long Ride Shields, Klock Werks and HD wind shields. I’ve measured according to what LRS recommends and came up with about 10 inches. Any ideas or experiences? Kinda like the LRS Ultra-Elite Polycarbonate 10 inch windshield.

Thanks, Ride safe.

I have the Freedom Shields 8" dark recurve and love it. Very minor wind buffeting with that hieght, I look over it and his customer service it second to none in my opinion.

And best thing...he is local to me!!!

Rather than buy a new one, I suggest that you take off your stock one and take it to a windshield outfit and have them cut it to 10 inches for you.
They shouldn't charge you much more than a $20.
The windshield should hit you between the chin and the nose.
At least that's where mine is.

I went with a Freedom Shield at 9 inches. What I like about are two things. It's optically correct so there is no distortion at the edges. And it is thicker than others making it more stable. At 9 inches I think I have the best height overall. I'm able to look through it 98% of the time and the other 2% I sit up like I should an look over it in the rain. And at that height there is absolutely no buffeting. I also liked talking to a real person who kept me well informed of shipping progress.

I'm somewhat confused,
a stock windshield is 12"
your line of sight is 4" below that (that would be at the 8" mark)
I would think a 10" would still be in your line of sight.

Here's how I would measure to get your line of sight measurement:
From the top of the fairing to the top of the masking tape:
Put a piece of masking tape on your windshield at 10" (then go for a test ride, it won't take long)
try again at 9"
try again at 8"
so on and so on until you can ride comfortably with the masking tape just below you eye sight.

Some companies measure front the center of the bolt hole to the top.
Some companies (not many and you wouldn't want those wavy shields anyway) measure the actual length of the plastic, not the height above the fairing.

Some shields have pretty bad distortion in the curved parts that really bugs my peripheral vision.
Windvest, Klockwerks and the Harley shields do.

I do know the Fast Aire Areo is clear as can be in the curve: http://www.fastaire.com/Aero.html

LRS is a cheap way of finding a good shield and they have sales all the time. I think they have a discount for be a forum member and you might ask if they have one for being a first time buyer. The Ultra shield allows you to take off another inch from a none curved shield.

I have a clearview 14" or 15.5" with the recuvre and vent. Previoulsy, I had a 8.5" Klockwerks which I liked as well. The reason I switched to the bigger one was for my wife. The wind off the Klock was directed over me and into her face. The big one gave us both a very nice pocket. The clarity of the clearview is excellent. No distortion. You can also use RainX. I was concerned of seeing through it and I have no problems in any weather. I now use the Clearview exclusively.

Thanks, Ride safe.

I just purchased this..they are selling like hot cakes and at that price (35.00) seems you can't go wrong. Also life time warranty. If it turns out to be Junk not an Issue for me. This guy has 100% rating and over 3000 feedback ..

+1 on Fastaire. Great price and unbelievable quick shipping. They have a good way to choose your windshield height also. http://www.fastaire.com/Choosing.html
