Have you done the gasoline mod yet? It consists of you putting gas into the tank for roughly $15 and then ride the bike until the needle touches the "E"...then repeat as often as possible.
I remeber telling my wife the day I bought the bike, "I like the way the bike is now, why would I do anything to it?" Like you, that didn't last long.
