I wouldn't toss away good rotors for floatings, but if you had to replace your stock OEM peices when they are no longer in spec, I'd go for floating rotors no questions asked.

Btw, the HD upgraded floating rotors are products of the country that brought us the Pearl Harbor sneak attack. Just an FYI.

That's not necessarily the reason why the floaters are superior.

I doubt if any who planned or participated in the PH attack are making the rotors we buy today. Also, we lied to and stole millions of square miles of land from Native Americans, but few who perpetrated these acts are making motorcycles or other U.S. goods. Thus, I wouldn't think it justifiable boycotting either on that basis alone.

I didn't think anyone would take the comment all that seriously - my mistake. (Lighten up out there!)

Floating rotors are essentially two piece rotors, hence the extra costs to manufacture. Yes, they're better than a solid disc rotor in that a two piece rotor with the friction surface allowed to "float" is less susceptible the effects of rotor "warping" A slight amount of "runout" or out of true on a brake rotor will lead to brake "pulse", felt at the actuator and or...lead to "brake squeal" that can only be temporarily abated with "goo" applied to the back side of the pads. If your originals are not giving you any of these type of fits...don't spend the money unless you're customizing and want the "real deal" ... they do look classy!
