Default quick advice needed

so here is the situation, I have everything set up to buy a new fatboy lo this week, but my local dealer just got in a 05 road glide with detachable tour pak, 30K miles, mint condition for a lot less than i planned to spend on the fatboy. I'm coming off of a nightsters, but have ridden bikes all my life. I don't take trips very often, but would like to start. I want something that my wife can ride with and will enjoy. My question is, is the RG worth getting with the miles or should I just stick with my original plan and get the FB? my ultimate goal has always been a roadglide, but right now, i can't buy new. any help is appreciated.

If it were me I'd get the bike I've always wanted. Seems like opportunity is knocking, you better answer the door!
You will likely end up selling the fat boy in a few years, why not get experience on the bike you think you really want?

I would go with the RG. You are gonna end up on a touring bike one day anyway, might as well make the leap now.

I think this is something that is more of a personal choice. I am sure you and your wife would love the Roadglide. Are you afraid of the amount of life left in the Roadie? Are the asking prices fair? Could you wait a year and save? Maybe find a used touring model from a private individual for less? Weigh the all the options before you sign and be sure of your decision.

Go ride it and go from there.
Gotta start somewhere.

30K miles is nothing to sneeze at when you dont know the previous owner and it's history. If you go for it, have the deal include a complete checkup

Another vote for "test ride" on both bikes, but make sure you bring the sweetie along b/c bike(s) ride different w/1 vs. 2 riders...good luck!

I am a big RG fan and not much of a softail fan (they do look great) but I I've only bought one used vehicle of any kind from a dealer. They want top dollar! Ya can do much better from private sellers. I would also look for a '09 up RG, or any tourer. But it does boil down to what you like/want and can afford. Good luck!

If the R.G. is what you really want and the dealer will sell you an extended warranty, go for it. 30,000 mi. ain't s***
