Can anybody tell me what the primary chain slack should be on my 2011 Tri Glide.? If the chain is too loose , can the auto chain tensioner be adjusted up a notch by hand? (Primary cover is off)

Put it back together, red line it in first gear, let hand off throttle, let it engine brake to idle. Worked for me.

Your bike has an automatic primary tensioner. No need to adjsut it. With the Harley auto tensioners, some say that they make the primary too tight causing premature primary bearing failure.

Yes, I know that, but I have been hearing what sounds like a little chain slap when I start the bike up. It does seem to go away as the bike warms up, but I took the primary off to have a look see. If it is not ramping up then I thought I could notch it up a tooth while I am in there. The chain has a little more slack on the top then I think it should have.

I don't see why not. Just push the wedge into the adjuster further.

If the chain has more than about 5/8" slop in the top, then I would move it, but if it doesn't leave it alone.

Just to follow up on my question. Had a gut feeling that my auto chain tensioner was not ratcheting up and was causing a tapping noise coming from the primary. Read a lot about the Hayden M6. Since I had the primary already open, I drove over to JPCycles( about 70 miles) and bought one. Man, what a difference. Pretty easy install and well worth the trip to purchase it.
