my money is on batteries upside down.
Yeah, nobody else has ever done anything stupid before.
I hope he at least paid attention to the instructions above to retrieve his current PIN, and how to over ride the security for future needs.
No body gave him the briefing when he joined the forum that should state, when you ask for help with an issue, you MUST let us know the solution when it is fixed, I say we ask the closest forum member to his house go take his bike away for a week and make him ride a moped while he thinks about what he has done
Ok sorry guys,
First thing I found out was that you should change the battery in the FOB every year. Don't cheap out and wait for it to die. That's what I did. I was told that once the battery dies it COULD (not always) cause the security system to lock out, meaning it needs to be reset at the dealer in orded to resume using the FOB.
Second to by pass the the FOB which you guys have explained the proper way here in this thread MUST be followed exactly.I never did follow directions properly.
Third since my security system was not factory installed the 12345 code did not work for me. I did luck out and was able to speak to the former service mgr. from a local Harley dealer and told me to try the zip code to the dealership is what some of the techs used for a temporary code. BINGO ! I got my girl started brought her to the dealership they reset the system with a new code number that I can't forget, No Charge. They told me that resetting the security system (because they are so sensitive) is a courtesy provides.
All is well in HOG heaven. Thank you guys for all your help. Be safe !
God Bless
Mark

i'm glad that you're up and running, but this statement i've never heard. if that were the case, wouldn't taking the battery out to change it be the same thing as a dead battery?
