Sofia is home!
Im taking her on a 600 mile trip this weekend, will report back detail findings. But in the short 75 miles Ive ridden her:
WOW!
This is a game changer guys. A whole new class.
1. SMOOOOTTTHHHHHH!!!!! Whatever they did to the engine mounts is nothing short of amazing. You still know its a Vtwin down there, but honestly, its freaking smooth as hell. (still shakes at idle)
2. Handling is amazingly better. Effortless and very planted. And this is with handlebars I'm not used to (stock vs my Klockwerks)
3. Power is great! Aint gonna win any drag races, but definitely more grunt. Caught myself doing 20 over the limit several times and didn't realize it.
4. Ride comfort is better than any Harley I have ever been on. She is like a cloud going down the road.
5. Wind managment is AWESOME! I put a 10" Windsplitter on her. I have NEVER ridden ANY motorcycle with calmer air in the cockpit. (yes, that includes the GL1800) That vent WORKS guys.
6. Less heat to the rider. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who has never ridden a Harley with lowers before. Even with lowers, STILL less heat. What heat I did feel was primarily coming from the exhaust, not the motor. There is still SOME of course, but even with lowers, its cooler than my 96" was without. What hot air is coming out of the radiators is deflected out and away, and I held my hand down there several times. Its only HOT if your hand is right over the opening. (and its still not that hot...more like quite warm rather than hot.) 2 inches away, once it hits and mixes with the ambient air, its barely even warm or noticable.
7. I keep trying to open the saddlebags with both hands. DOH!!
8. Brakes are unbelievable. Think about how much better the Brembos were over the previous brakes. These are that much better again. (linked braking)
9. Audio: I had a 30-40 watt (cant remember which) Hogtunes amp and Boom speakers on Ruby. This system, out of the gate, blows it away. A good 20-30 percent louder, no distortion until pushed to about 85 percent max volume, then only a little bit. The inclosures inside the fairing and bass ports in the trunk make a VERY obvious improvement to the "presence" or "fullness" of the sound. Cant even imagine how good it would sound with the 6.5 speaker upgrade.
This is a HUGE leap forward.
