It's time, my feet are tired of sitting on the floor boards. I see H-D has abouta gazillion different mounts, I was considering just a simple clamp and pegs of my liking. My concern and question is about the distance from the seat to the crash bars, my inseam (33") will have me in a serious stretch unless I angle the pegs back on the crash bars, but then it doesn't look like the foot will rest correctly, looks like it will be wedged between the bar and peg. Comments appreciated. Thanks. Dave
I don't know what you ride, but I've got a 32" inseam and have experienced no problems with crash-bar mounted foot pegs. I've ran several peg set-ups, but this winter as part of my mods, I decided to change out my crash-bars and go with a new Kury model that has flip-out foot pegs. The Kury set-up I'm runninglooks similar to the Linde crash-bars, with the added feature of "flip-out" foot pegs. Kury's model gives you a couple of options...you can ride and rest your foot on the top of the crash-bars....oryou can "flip-out" the foot pegs for an extended set-up...moving your legs/feet out a little furtherto stretch out on those long rides. So far so good, but to be honest, haven't had the opportunity to ride a whole lot so far this winter.
I have a 30 in. inseam and use Kuryakn offset mounts on my crashbar with no problems. The offset allows for limitless angles to mount the highway pegs.
I wasn't satisfied with just one option. so I put on two. I've got the Kuryakin Iso wings on an offset mount just outside the floor boards, then I put a set of standard clamp mounted pegs right above that mount. Both work well and the ability to move my feet around is kind of nice.
I also havea 33 inseam, and have no problems with the basic setup on my SG. You may try just putting on the mount and see how you like it. Then change the mounts forward or back as needed.
My inseam is also 32 and I havbe the Kury Switchblade pegs mounted on the crashbars as highway pegs. They are sweet and really nice to rest your heels on. Have to try to stay awake on a long trip!
Thanks a bunch Dudes, especially the picture...worth a thousand words. I'm dealing with your basic 07 RKC and was thinking about H-D stuff. Boy does the offset look like the way to go! Thanks again! Dave
