After much deliberation between Motorcycle GPS's I came across the CoPilot GPS app. My biggest want was the ability to plot my own route instead of just following one of the 3 choices that most GPS's give you. This is something that the Garmin Zumo series will do as well as a few others but its not a common feature. I figured I try out the app on my Samsung Galaxy S4 before I pulled the trigger on a $600+ motorcycle specific gps. I use my phone connected to my stereo with an aux cable to listen to Pandora or mp3 tunes so the ability 2 use 1 device for everything is ultimately why I went this route.
The last couple of days I have done around 250 miles plotting my own routes right in the app before leaving. It worked great taking me exactly where I wanted to go. I did route myself over some dirt roads not knowing that they were dirt but you can always just stop and find another way around if it looks too sketchy. The app does give you turn by directions even if you shut your screen down. It doesn't say street names though but they are on screen.
So if you are interested in having just one device for everything give it a try. It will save you a **** ton of $$$!!
Thanks, sounds like this will work well with my setup too. Did you buy the app or use the free one?
I have been fairly happy with the Google maps features on the iPhone but it likes to go to sleep if the power cord isn't plugged in all the time.

I have the free one for now I just haven't gotten around to paying of the other one.
Thanks for the info. But I already have a copilot GPS, my wife, LOL.
LOL! Mines not much of a navigator, but a heck of a back-scratcher and speed-limiter... :-)
I have built in GPS in all of our vehicles and have been using Waze on my iPhone mounted to the bars, but it's hard to see in direct sunlight...does this program allow for more contrast in the settings?

I think it is a little easier to see than Waze as I have that app too. CoPilot maps work offline which is a selling point as well. In Nh there are still a lot of cell dead spots up North.
I'm curious, do you know how many waypoints a route can have and how many routes it con store?
Good question but I'm not sure. You can drag your route as well as add way points which can speed things up when you are making your route. It's free for 14 days give it a try and see if it works for you.
