You should have some real tools on board. Depending on an included cheapie kit is is a very poor strategy. I would hate to think that the crappy kit that is included with any bike represents all the tools I would have available. The axle tool really makes me laugh.
Like the title says ... Does Harley include a basic tool kit in the new models? I have never bought a new bike. This will be my first.
What's in the tool kit? The multi purpose wrench things? The 4 headed screw driver thingy? Anything else?
Or, is that maybe a dealer by dealer thing and not something the factory includes?
Yeah, I know it'll be very basic, and I have a better tool kit on my bike now. I am asking because I am selling my old bike before I get my new one. I am wondering if I should leave the stuff I got with it (the things mentioned above) since I will get new ones, or should I keep the old tools if H-D no longer includes them. Of course I am keeping the wrenches and such I bought along the way.
I hear they are going away from the whole toolkit thing. To be replaced with a wallet size card. The new system is very convenient.
You just call the 800 number.
Press 1 for warranty.
Then a message comes on right away that says;
Its normal its a Harley"
My 2010 came with a full tool kit but frankly, its kind of heavy. I took it out and carry a nice compact Cruz Tools Outbacker. It will do whatever can be done on the side of the road with these newer electronic marvels these days.
I thought they done away with the tool kit,and gave a gallon of coolant instead..........sorry not funny I'm bad
Actually, it is. I am so glad I decided on a Street Glide. As for tools, I still have the H-D screwdriver. The rest of the kit from my former Ultra I sold. I'll carry the tool roll I put together using Craftsman tools.
I've kept the tool kit I got when I bought a new 1985 EG. Back then they actually put a good kit together. It sure looks like and may be Snap-on tools. Came in a nice zippered pouch that I just added a set of Allen and Torx wrenches to. The new kits are a joke! What did they save, $25 by going cheap! Guess it adds up but cheap is cheap.
