Default Radio sound

Hey all I have been having trouble with my radio loosing sound. A friend gave me his stock radio from his 2012 RG and I installed it in me 2008 EG standard. His has worked flawless for a year. Lately it has been loosing sound. The radio is still on but all of a sudden the sound goes away. After shutting it off and turning on again the sound is back and after a few miles the sound is gone again. I took off the outer fairing and looked for loose connections or worn wires and didn't find any. Anyone else have this problem or know what is wrong with my radio. Thanks

I would say weak ground, but since you checked all of the wires, it might be in the head unit itself

^^^Now that's a great forum sponsor^^^

Time to give them a call...maybe throw in a few upgrades, based on their recommendations too.

Now that's what discussion groups are really for, good people helping others, and Iron Cross you are good people :}

Default Me Tooo!

I had the exact same problems you just described, and cycling the power no longer works also. I just sent the radio to IronCross this morning and hopefully they can get me all setup for fall run next weekend I called them this morning to let them know that I was kind of on a time crunch, so hopefully it arrives by next Thursday so I can get it installed. Dealt with a pleasant gal who seemed ready to help get it back on time, so praying! Fall riding time, so hate to be without tunes!

Ditto! My 2010 with 51K on the ODO just recently began that very same problem. I was hoping to have avoided the problem, but i guess no matter what, all of these HK radios are bound to fail just as that. I rocker the speaker switch to regain my sound, but after a while it gets annoying. I recently have had surgery and am unable to ride. Will be out of commission well into December. Then, the riding season will be over. So, my upcoming winter project is to remove the head unit and send it off to the good folks at Iron Cross. Just a heads up. It should be coming your way in a few months. At that time I will also replace the two handlebar riser screws to the flatter ones as recommended in an HD Service Bulletin.
